Dr. Long grew up in Minneapolis, MN and graduated from West High. Weekends were spent horse back riding and hunting on their farm in Mendota and summers at the cabin in northern MN, developing her interest in animals and the out of doors.
Dr. Long received her BS with honors in Biology from Earlham College and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the U of MN College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Long spent a year in the Peace Corps as a veterinarian and seven years in mixed animal practice in Alexandria and Perham.
In 1994 Dr. Long purchased the Nevis Veterinary Clinic, moved it to Park Rapids and renamed it the Ark Animal Hospital. Dr. Long finds veterinary practice rewarding and challenging. Areas of professional interest include Dentistry, Dermatology and Soft Tissue Surgery.
Dr. Long was a founding member of the Headwaters Animal Shelter and has been a Kinship mentor for 14 years. She enjoys spending time outdoors- hunting, fishing, horseback riding, bike riding, skiing and swimming. Dr. Long has a Brittany spaniel, Ripley, a horse, Tory, and last but not least, a husband Steve.
